Igbo leader, Ohanaeze to declare governor Ambode number 1 enemy of Ndigbo over Oshodi market demolition

The threat was made via a statement released by the National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro

Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has threatened to declare Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode the number one enemy of Ndigbo following the state government’s demolition of a part of the popular Oshodi market.
The threat was made via a statement released by the National President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
The statement reads:
“It is instructive to observe here that contrary to all principles of common justice, the traders were merely given few days quit notice.”
“It is equally shocking that the government chose such a wrong time for the demolition exercise, thereby not only taking the shops from them but making sure that their wares were looted.”
“We are forced to ask: could this be the starting point in implementing Oba of Lagos’s earlier threat during the election period that Ndigbo would be thrown into the Lagoon? Could it be another round of deportation of exercise, similar to what former governor Fashola did? These appear to be so considering that a witch cried in the night and a child died in the morning.”
“It is quite inhuman for people’s means of livelihood to be taken away from them in such a manner. The government’s claim that arms were recovered from a section of the market does not fly at all here because it cannot be a reason for such a wicked treatment purely targeted on a particular people.”
“We demand that the Governor of Lagos State should direct relevant government agencies to adequately compensate these traders; anything short of that, Ndigbo will henceforth regard the Governor as their number one arch-enemy.”
The group also said that the demolition was obviously done in bad faith.
The state government had earlier explained that it was forced to demolish part of the market due to the activities of hoodlums in the area.

Fifa Ballon d'Or - Lionel Messi wins record fifth Ballon d'Or

Leo Messi  wins the Ballon d'Or for a record fifth  time shrugging of  comepetition from Christiana Ronaldo and Neymar da Silva Santos JĂșnior.

Though it was widely anticipated that Messi would win but the order of  outcome of the result was contray to most people expected .

Rather Ronaldo came second whilts  3rd  goes to Neymar in the following sequence

1 - Messi, 2 - Ronaldo, 3 - Neymar.
Neymar had 7% of the vote, Ronaldo had 27%. Messi had 41.33% exactly.

Interestingly Ronaldo voted for teammates Karim Benzema, James Rodriguez and - yes, honestly - Gareth Bale as his picks. Maybe he does rate him, after all.
Gareth Bale doesn't get a vote because he's not captain. At least he'll be happy with that nomination from his Real Madrid friend - Chris Coleman and Ashley Williams both selected Bale as their number one choice.

Over in camp Messi, it went pretty much how you'd expect - although I am slightly surprised that Luis Suarez is ahead of Neymar in his voting. 1 - Luis Suarez, 2 - Neymar and 3 - Andres Iniesta.

The highlight of the event is illutrated below

Fifpro World XI: Neuer; Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Ramos, Alves; Iniesta, Modric, Pogba; Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo
• Jill Ellis wins World Women's Coach of the Year
• Luis Enrique wins Coach of the Year
• Wendell Lira wins Puskas Award
• Carli Lloyd wins Women's World Player of the Year
• Messi wins fifth Ballon d'Or

Nigerian civil servant celebrate his "retirement" in lavish style - in the US.

A Nigerian civil servant recently celebrated his retirement on a grandiose level  in the US.

This also bring to fore the values we primarily concentrate on which are encapsulated with the confines of egotistical and narcissistic proclivities.

This antithetical way of life has to give way for an altruistic one regardless of religion or ethnicity , we simply need to love and respect one another.

Cosmetics company sorry for skin-whitening ad that said "You just need to be white to win

Horwang's image darkens to charcoal black

A cosmetics company has apologised over an advert for a skin-whitening pill with the tagline "You just need to be white to win" after a backlash on social media.
Thai firm Seoul Secret pulled the advert for its Snowz product which showed an actress' skin getting gradually darker next to a rival with light skin.
The ad was branded racist and ignorant and sparked a fierce debate in a country where beauty is defined by fairer skin and darker skin is associated with the lower classes.
The video, which was released on YouTube on Thursday, saw movie star Cris Horwang talking about being an ageing actress in a competitive industry.
She said: "If I stopped looking after myself, everything that I have worked for - all the investment I have made to keep myself white - would disappear.
"New stars would replace me, I would fade away."
As she speaks a younger woman enters the picture and Horwang’s image darkens to charcoal black.
A male voice says: "You just need to be white to win."
One prominent critic of the advert was former beauty queen Nonthawan Thongleng who said judging people by their skin colour was "such an old-fashioned value".
She posted on Facebook: "Even if you are black, you can be a winner too.”
Seoul Secret said in a statement: "Our company did not have any intention to convey discriminatory or racist messages.
"What we intended to convey was that self-improvement in terms of personality, appearance, skills and professionalism is crucial."
Wattanapak Jinsirivanich, managing director of the firm's parent company, said: "We may have overlooked this matter, overlooking the fact of being racist because this is something that doesn't exist in Thailand."
Hmmmmm, this is what I'm saying  we need to believe in ourselves and be self reliant in Africa to earn respect from people from other parts of the world ,Gbam!

7 km traffic on Ikorodu - mile 12 due to unplanned construction

Still on the matter of gross display of  insensitivity by Nigerians to fellow Nigerians despite pervasive practice of  religion in the country

Sometimes i wonder why people go to church when at the end of the day, they are much more self centered than ever , they become much more materialistic and delusional .
I laugh when a fellow Nigerian mocks the Chinese for generally held erroneous belief that they make fake products ,yes they may produce substandard products but they cannot do it alone , it has to be in connivance with our Nigerian brothers and Sisters.

After all Nigeria belongs solely to Nigerians and hence should be protected by Nigerians, rather the reverse is the case as our fellow citizens prefer to connive with  foreigners to exploit their own

This is not new , it has being in practice since the days of slave trade when brothers sold brothers for the gifts/money received from the westerners , nothing has changed , it is business as usual

Before i digress further, let me revert to the matter at hand, the present construction at Ikorodu-Mile 12 axis is commendable but the mode of execution  has greatly lessen the good motive behind it ,considering that the area is quintessentially notorious for perfect traffic gridlock ,thus common sense warrants that the renovation should have been carried out late at night or very early in morning when traffic is quite light or non existent

But not in Nigeria, we abhor civility and prefer to do things as if we are living in the jungle where survival of the fittest is the order of the day .

Hmmmm! As for me we need a paradigm shift fast encompassing but followership  and leadership, with the former checkmating the latter and the latter directing the leader positively .

PortHarcourt airport is one of the worst airports in Nigeria. Wonder Why?Picture doesn't lie

Apparently the picture speaks for itself  and this is no doubt the shame of a nation not just the state.

The citizens of Nigeria deserve better than this, Charity begins at home, we need to start caring ,loving and providing for ourseleves.

This black on black ill treatment has to stop other wise the Caucasians will continue to belittle and disrespect us ,so if one is called a black monkey , you should not complain  but we should put things in place that are beneficial to mankind and by extension black Africa specifically to prove the whites wrong

Dbanj Drops New Single prpmising " Emergency" ,can he regain his throne with this lastest effort ?

On Thursday, January 7, Afro pop sensation Dbanj took center stage and treated guests to a superb performance in Abuja. He also dropped a new song in the course of the performance.

The entertainer was one of the artistes who performed at the Glo CAF awards in Abuja on the night. Other A-list performers at the event include Flavour, King Sunny Ade, Omawumi and Salif Keita.
Dbanj opened performance with his hit song Top Of The World.
After which he performed for the first time his new single Emergency – a mid tempo, Afro beat-influenced song marked with all the elements of a hit record.
In Emergency, the singer reaches out to his favourite lady passionately, urging her to join him in some fun and party.
“Baby tell me what’s your name, tell me what’s your number,
“…You’re driving me insane, you mess with my medulla,” he sings.
This piece of music is some positive news for Dbanj fans far and wide as they have waited with bated breaths for the one song that gets him back on his feet as one of Nigeria’s biggest.
He has seen relative successes with singles Confidential and Alaye amongst others, but none has been quite as phenomenal as his erstwhile hits during the Mo’Hits era.
This new song, however, has all the features of a banger. It is radio-ready and fitting for the youth market among other things.
So has his long awaited renaissance began? Only time will tell but one thing is clear, the gap between established and  evolving musicians is thinning out by the day.

Man Gets Horn On His Head To Stand Out As An Artiste

 A man who wants to have fame has gotten horns implanted on his head. This Jamaican musician Furtyle Brain whose real names are Kenardo AndrĂ© Robinson said about the implants;

"It's really the process where the implants are implanted in the skull. I was sedated during the surgery but had to be given lots of painkillers when I revived because it was very painful," he said.

On people thinking he is demonic, Furtyle said;
"There are some who think that I am demonic, but it doesn't bother me much as I am not the first artiste who is picked on. There are others who have done far less than I have done and have received a backlashing and bashing," he said.

But must he go this extent to get attention? is the question .

Omg! Violent Groom-to-be Beat Fiance Silly a Day to Their Wedding (Photos)

An ugly incident has left a woman who was about marrying the love of her life devastated after an ugly incident.

A man who had been sentenced to more than three years in jail in 2013 for killing a father-of-two with a single punch has again exhibited his vicious and violent nature on his wife-to-be.

The groom ended up missing his own wedding because he attacked his bride the day before the ceremony, a court has heard, Dailymirror reports.

Christopher Kearns, 43, left his future bride with a nosebleed after punching her repeatedly in the nose following a row after she shouted back at him and told him to go. After the battering, Kearns was said to be crying and apologized, asking what had happened and what he had done.

But in an a shocking twist, Prosecutor Alex Mann told the court that Mr Kearns's future wife did not want him to be prosecuted and when he is released, the pair still plan to marry.

He told the court: 'The victim is his partner and has been for 12 months. She describes him as a thoughtful, loving person needing help.'

He was worried about being recalled to prison, the court was told.

'She's aware he has previous convictions which led to him entering prison when he didn't receive support and the medication he was used to,' Mr Mann said.

'When he was released he was struggling to cope.'

Defending, John Lee said the case had caused a lot of distress due to the fact their wedding was to take place the followed day.
They had to miss their special day because Kearns was hospitalised and then recalled to prison.

Mr Lee said: 'He wants to take responsibility but has little recollection because of his mental health issues. They do still intend to get married when he comes out of prison.' For the latest offence, Kearns was also given a conditional discharge and £15 surcharge cost.

Why we demolished Oshodi market – Lagos

The Lagos State Government says the demolition of Owonifari Market in Oshodi area of the state was done to further ensure security and bring sanity to the area.
The state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Steve Ayorinde, gave the explanation at a news conference on Thursday while clarifying issues involved in the demolition exercise.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the State Government on Tuesday shut the market and ordered relocation of affected traders and shop owners to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade in the area.
The market was demolished from Tuesday night till the early hours of Wednesday.
Ayorinde said that the traders were formally served a quit notice on Dec.21 before the demolition exercise, through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.“It is important to be informed that the issue of that market had been on for nothing less than 10 years.
“The state government had been engaging with the leadership of the market to say that we could no longer continue with the manner in which that area of the market was being used.
“So, for 10 years, there has been back and forth engagement between the government and the leadership of the market,” he said.
Ayorinde said the leadership of the market, in the last three years, had refused to move.
“Certified that we have provided a befitting alternative, we started another round of engagement with the leadership of the market.
“The governor appealed to them through the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs.
“They met with members of the state executive on Dec. 16, 2015, where the governor reiterated his plans for Oshodi and the need to relocate them.
“A few of them expressed certain misgivings, but largely, they felt that if their interests were accommodated within the Isopakodowo market that they were willing and ready to move.
“We advised that discussions should be ongoing, particularly regarding how much they will pay for each stall within the market,” he said.
Ayorinde said that on Dec. 21, 2015, the governor went on a tour of the market, particularly Isopakodowo Market, where he again met with the leadership of the Owonifari Market.
According to him, it was eventually agreed that, based on the proposition from the market leaders, what they were willing to pay for each market was N5000 monthly.
“There is really no market anywhere that you will be paying such an amount in a month for a market.
“The governor agreed with them and we said we were ready to concede.
“Along the line, convinced that our New Year project was to relocate them to Isopakodowo Market, we got intelligence reports that as at during the Yuletide, a number of criminal activities were going on there.
“We also got reports that the place was harbouring criminals and a number of untoward activities.
“This, of course, necessitated that we should move immediately to safeguard lives, property and to ensure that there was no breech of peace.
“This was what led to the demolition exercise,” Ayorinde said.
He said the intention of the government was certainly not to destroy any goods.
“We believe a good number of the traders, if not all, had moved because they were aware they needed to move.
“From reports, quite a good chunk of them acknowledged that they were properly served and that they were ready to move; many of them packed their things just before the end of the year.
“Government, I should say, will not be blackmailed because we have done everything humanly possible.
“We believe very strongly that Isopakodowo Market is quite ideal, a lot bigger than where they were,” he said.
Ayorinde said the aim of the government was to ensure that the area of the market conformed with the type of image that it wanted the state to be.
“It is to return sanity to the place, to beautify the market and construct a world class bus terminus around the place.
“We also believe the exercise will largely reduce the gridlock that is associated with that area and the criminalities that were rampant in Oshodi.
“What we have done is in the interest of the generality of residents,” he said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for the Environment, Dr Babatunde Adejare, who was present during the demolition exercise, said the Owonifari market had become a den of notorious criminals.
“I was present during the demolition, the traders had removed their goods; there was only one shop where we met goods and the goods are with us,” he said.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Muslim Folami said a bunker was discovered in the market during the demolition.

Olamide And Tiwa Savage Yet To Round Up Video Shoot

Following the series of drama that unfolded at the just concluded Headies 2015 award, between Mavin Records Label boss Don Jazzy and top Nigerian music artist, Olamide over a particular category of award which was meant for Lil Kesh but was given to Reekado Banks.
Olamide who expressed his frustration at the decision of the organizers when he accompanied Adekunle Gold, another YBNL act, who won the award for Best Alternative Artiste, to receive the award.
Olamide said: “He (Lil Kesh) is our next rated artiste. He had back to back hits throughout the year – Lyrically, Shoki, Gbese and Efejoku,” he said among other things before throwing the mic on the stage
The situation took a turn when Don Jazzy, apparently feeling slighted, told Olamide to come and take the car, which comes with the Next Rated award, if he wanted it while receiving the special recognition award.
This took the social media by storm all through the night as the YBNL boss, Olamide took to his Instagram handle to post threatening and insulting words to Don Jazzy. This act of him got everyone talking until both parties apologized to each other through the intervention of Nigeria’s billionaire business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Despite settling their differences fans are concerned if Olamide and Mavin First Lady, Tiwa Savage will still go ahead and conclude the video shoot for Tiwa songs International Local and Standing Ovation?
Sources have disclosed that the two music artists have started shooting the music video for each of the singles on Tiwa Savage’s new album, RED.

After my fight with Bradley in April I will retire -Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao has confirmed his fight with Timothy Bradley in the spring will be his last fight before he hangs up his gloves to focus on his political career.

Pacquiao will fight Bradley for a third time on April 9 after losing to his biggest rival Floyd Mayweather in boxing’s richest fight in history last May. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum said last week he did not believe his fighter would retire after fighting Bradley, but the 37-year-old set the record straight on Monday night.

“I am retiring from boxing to concentrate on my political career,” said Pacquiao. “My fight with Timothy Bradley will be my last.” He also dismissed reports he would be delaying retirement plans in the hope of tempting undefeated Mayweather out of retirement for a rematch. “I did not say anything like that. Nobody interviewed me about that. I will retire after my April 9 fight,” he insisted.
